Soil Type:

A long blooming mid-summer flower from July to October. This plant is a prairie species that is adaptable to drought, heat, humidity, and poor soils. It has a daisy-like purple flower that blooms throughout the summer. In the winter, the cones in the flower head attract a variety of birds that feed on its seeds.

Soil & Sunlight

Sun: Full Sun (6 to 8 hours a day). Can tolerate Partial Shade esp in hotter climates, will become droppy or lethargic if too much shade.

Soil: Dry, Medium Dry (well-drained soil). Does not like wet or mucky soil.

Height: 2 to 5 feet (60-150cm)

Spread: Coneflowers spread by self-seeding, as well as growing a larger root mass. But coneflowers don't take over gardens via roots that spread (rhizomes).
