Summer-flowering perennial with aromatic leaves and spikes of blue-purple flowers. Ideal for landscaping in combination with other floral sources. Highly attractive to bees and butterflies. Needs fertile, well-drained soil and full sun.

Native to parts of British Columbia and much of North America, extending from the prairies to the Pacific coast. It can be found in open, moist areas, clearings, and along roadsides, particularly in the montane zone of the province

Sun: Full Sun preferred, but can tolerate partial shade.

Soil: requires well-drained soil and thrives in dry to medium moisture conditions, making it susceptible to root rot in heavy, wet, or clay-heavy soils. Tolerates poor, sandy, or rocky soil, and prefers a neutral to slightly acidic pH.

Height: 2 to 4 feet (60-120 cm)

Spread: 1 to 3 feet (30-90 cm)

Garden Design:

Drought tolerant perennial that thrives in full sun. Pairs will with other drought-tolerant plants such as Goldenrod and Brown Eyed Susans. Avoid over-fertilizing to encourage more blooms. Great in middle or back of perennial borders, in herb gardens, or in containers.
