Soil Type:

While not a local native, it is frequently grown in BC as an ornamental garden perennial. It thrives in the region's climate if given rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or partial shade. Because it is non-invasive and forms neat, upright clumps, it is a popular choice for structural garden borders and pollinator patches.

Culver's root is naturally indigenous to central and eastern North America. Its native range stretches across the eastern United States and southeastern Canada (from Maine down to Florida, and west to the Dakotas, Minnesota, and Manitoba). It does not naturally grow wild in Pacific Northwest ecosystems like British Columbia.
