Bluehead gilia is a low-maintenance, drought-tolerant annual plant that readily self-sows. It thrives in full sun and well-draining soils, making it a great plant for rock gardens. Bluehead gilia produces round clusters of tiny blue flowers (resembling pompoms) that look very pretty against the fern-like foliage. This plant is often included in wildflower or meadow mixes for its ability to attract pollinators.

Soil & Sunlight

Full sun is best, but light shade can be tolerated. Well-drained soil, sandy or gravelly soil is idea, and tolerates poor soils.

Like many meadow annuals, it actually performs better in lean soils rather than rich garden soil.
