Native to North America. Bright yellow daisy-like flower heads. Tolerant to poor, gravely soils, heat and drought resistant. Cultivated varieties include oranges and reds. Attractive to butterflies, bumble bees and solitary bees.

This plant has been used by a number of First Nations as a medicinal poultice to treat a number of infections, including cold and flu.

Soil: Well-drained soil that is moist but not soggy and can tolerate various soil types, including clay, loam, and sandy soils
