Santolina (Santolina chamaecyparissus)

While not a native species, it is widely grown in the BC Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island as an ornamental garden plant due to its striking silver foliage and bright yellow summer blooms. Because of its drought tolerance, it is particularly popular in local xeriscape and rock gardens. It thrives in well-draining, lean soils and full sun, making it well-adapted to the Pacific Northwest as long as it isn't left sitting in wet, heavy clay.
