A low-maintenance, perennial groundcover known for its fragrant, deeply-lobed leaves and vibrant pink to magenta flowers that bloom in late spring to early summer. Attracts all pollinators throughout early summer.

It is a non-native, hardy perennial that is widely cultivated in gardens for ground cover and is considered a garden favorite for its drought tolerance and ability to suppress weeds. Note: Non-invasive but sometimes confused with the truly invasive Shiny Geranium (Geranium lucidum).

Sun: can thrive in both full sun and partial shade, but it prefers full sun where summers are cooler and partial shade where summers are hot.

Soil: Prefers well-drained, average to rich soil, but is adaptable to dry and poor soils.

Height: 12 to 18 inches (30–45 cm) tall

Spread: spreading ground cover that can reach 18 to 24 inches (45–60 cm) wide

Garden Design:

Highly adaptable, thriving in a variety of conditions including part shade, dry shade, and well-drained soils, and is resistant to deer and rabbits. Its thick rhizomes create a dense mat that suppresses weeds and prevents soil erosion, making it great for groundcover, borders and rock gardens.
